Dual Diagnosis Program

A framework is designed to give particular attention to addictive and compulsive behaviors.

Acute Care Unit

The Psychiatric Acute Care Unit (ACU) specializes in the treatment of individuals in need of acute crisis stabilization of psychiatric illnesses. The goal of treatment is to stabilize psychiatric symptoms and transition patients to the most appropriate level of care, ranging from long-term hospitalization to reintegration into the community. The unit is able to accept committed as well as voluntary patients.

Our safe and highly structured setting is maintained by a high staff-to-patient ratio and continuous individual assessments. A special precaution system enables varying levels of observation for patients exhibiting high-risk behaviors, such as suicidal ideation and assaultiveness. The crisis intervention specialists and ACU staff are specifically trained in the early detection of escalating tension and use appropriate intervention skills to prevent crisis situations from occurring.
